The Night Desk Starfield

Introductions

First, let’s start with some introductions. My name is Rich, and I’ll be your guide on this journey. Well, to start with, anyways.

I’m excited to see what possibilities we uncover and where our time together will take us. All of us on this big blue marble are in it together.

While some folks are preoccupied with trivial pursuits and perceived slights, you and I are here in the pursuit of knowledge. We’re curious. We listen. We pay attention. And we’re united. United around a common goal to better understand where we are today and what our potential is for tomorrow.

Throughout history human kind has made discoveries, invented amazing things, and questioned the status-quo. Everyone at The Night Desk encourages you to do the same. While it’s important to ask questions, it’s also important to listen to the answers from people who know.

This is where we turn to science, and the scientific process.

It’s in our nature to be curious and to investigate things we don’t understand. And it’s not always easy to accept an answer that may be beyond our comprehension, but that’s where we evolve as individuals. I don’t know everything. You don’t know everything. But when we believe we have found an answer, it’s important to subject it to scrutiny by experts in the field.

What many folks today fail to remember, is that reading something on the internet doesn’t make it right. Even science can only offer us our best current understanding of the universe around us. As we learn to ask different questions, uncover new methods of measurement, test our hypothesis, and change our minds, we are preparing ourselves and the generations that follow with better understanding and insight into questions long-past.

This is a lot of rambling, to be sure, but I felt it important to open this chapter of my life (and hopefully yours) with the honesty that we will make mistakes, with the responsibility that we will tell you when we do, and with the respectful understanding that we will grow our understanding together.

In the vast tapestry of science and the uncharted realms of the unexplained, our journey continues.

Keep your eyes and mind open, and join us again next time as we delve into the wonders of the universe.
